Welcome to our online Gallery. Bimonthly, Artistic Images Gallery features an artist in our store gallery. We offer a preview of the featured artist' work, but encourage you to come by and view the works in person.
It is always interesting to see whom Jill Johnson, head of the painting department at UAH, will select to be the featured artist for January and February. I asked Jill to select one of her graduating senior artist for this exhibition and each year I am amazed with the talent coming from UAH.
The work by Heidi Laine Barnes is exceptional! I encourage each of you who receive our newsletter to stop by the gallery to see Heidi's exhibition, it will be on view through February 28.
Heidi wrote in her artists statement that "art is her passion" When she transferred to UAH in 2005 Heidi changed her major from English with a minor in Art History to a major in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. As Heidi states, "making the decision to become an artist was not an easy one, but I wanted to live by the motto, "Do what you love, and love what you do."
The paintings Heidi selected for the show are contemporary portraitures of people she knows and people gleaned from found photos.
