Featured Artist - Pamela Watters
Pamela Watters is an artist who uses the medium of pastel in painterly fashion. "Pastel is my medium of choice because my objective is to create bold & dynamic art with gestural energy. I love the pure colors, the immediacy, and the feeling that the pastel stick is an extension of my fingers. Practically any effect that can be achieved with any other medium can be accomplished with pastel. In pastels I have the best of all possible worlds - speed, directness of execution, permanence and vivid color."

Ms. Watters' landscapes reflect her love of the lush surroundings found in the Southeast. Whether the subject matter is figurative, still life or landscape, she captures excitement in her work by combining techniques or the impressionists and Post impressionists with outrageous colors of the Fauves. She strives to project a feeling of shimmering light, movement and explosive colors within each painting that captures the imagination of the viewer.

Watters grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama - a small town in the foothills of the Appalachians in Northeast Alabama where her family has lived for generations. She now lives and works in Huntsville, Alabama. Ms. Watters' work is represented in many private and public collections including those of Ellis Marsalis, The Delta Blues Museum, Michael Moore, Summit Records, Icehouse Records, Duck Tape Music and the U.S. Government. She is a juried member of the Degas Pastel Society, the Southeastern Pastel Society, and is the past President of the Huntsville Art League. Her work has won numerous awards, and has been exhibited throughout the country.
