Featured Artist - Murat
Kaboulov
A resident of Vladikavkaz, Russia, Murat Kaboulov is now living
in Brentwood, Tennessee. As a child Murat became interested in
art. At the age of 12, he began taking lessons at the Art School
for Children in his hometown. Three years later he moved to St.
Petersburg (Leningrad) and entered the art college named after
V. Serov. He studied painting there for five years and after
successfully graduating from the college, Murat passed the entrance
exams to one of the country's leading art schools - The Academy
of Arts in St. Petersburg. His teacher was Professor E. Moesayenko,
one of the most famous representatives of "socialist realism"
(or Russian Impressionism, as it is now called). Murat's special
subject was many figured genre compositions (scenes). He is academically
trained though, and excels in, portraits, landscapes and still-life
as well. Murat is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia
and his works can be found in many art museums throughout Russia
as well as in private collections all over the world.
Murat has been an active participant in art
shows in Nashville, such as Harding Academy Show, Brentwood Academy
Show and the Junior League Show. He as had several on-man shows
at the University Club of Nashville, and he shows his paintings
in the English Gallery of Fine Art.
