Featured Artist - Beverly
Brown
Huntsville artist Beverly Brown is
the featured artist for May and June. Ms. Browns bold use
of color and almost a graphic/pointillism approach to her work
gives each painting a unique atmosphere. For this exhibition,
Beverly has presented a selection of paintings that feature trees
in all their glory. Below is the artists statement in her
own words.
I wish I could express to you
some deep philosophical reason for the way I paint, but alas
I cannot. Simply put, I love trees and the way they present themselves
to the world. Ever changing, ever moving as the branches dance
by even the slightest breeze. I also love strong color. I have
not been able to live my life in neutral.
I paint what I see, but not realistically.
I paint with the strength of emotion that I feel for the subject.
I do not plan the painting as many artists do, with the infinite
sketches and color studies. My hand moves across the canvas much
as the wind blows the branches, in an impulsive manner.
When finished you might think that
each stroke or dot is carefully placed and controlled, but in
truth, like many happy accidents, these paintings just happen."
